After a diverse career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.-P NYS:066302) in New York City and the Park Slope area of Brooklyn, Scott hung his hat in NYC and relocated to be closer to his family in South Florida. From the Big Apple to the Bright Orange.
After many years in private practice, home care and agency work, he has developed his practice based on the principles of Present Awareness Cognitive Therapy (PACT).
Scott dedicated his undergraduate education to Social Work at the University of Central Florida School of Social work and Burnett Honors College. His Graduate degree is also in Social Work from New York University. He completed his Seminar in Field Instruction at Fordham University and Supervised Graduate students in the field of Social Work.
Scott held a thriving private practice in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He has worked as Clinical Director and Program Director for Intensive Outpatient Clinics (IOP) treating dual diagnosis (MICA) clientele, Cancer support programs, Children’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program.
He developed the clinical curriculum and lead Men’s Groups, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Grief and Bereavement, Alcohol and Drug Awareness, Trauma and Family Support Groups. He performed Psychiatric Social Work evaluations for home bound individuals impacted by cognitive or medical impairments, treating both the individual and the family system, including palliative and end of life care for terminal illness.
His home care experience in Brooklyn also provided home services to Holocaust survivors.
Scott’s work with the City of New York as the Director of Community Development for the downtown Brooklyn area during September 11, earned him one of his most prized honors, a Citation from the City of New York for his volunteerism with the local firehouses providing pro bono services to the firefighters, widows and communities so impacted by the tragedy.
After honing a tremendous array of experience and treatment with Individuals, couples, families and the community, Scott came to believe the most crucial time in therapy, is the space between sessions. It was not the session itself.
Each session should move closer to completing the goal. The goal of therapy should not be…. More therapy, it will develop achievable goals that improve life quality and improve one’s value in their own life and the lives of others.
Do you feel able to achieve what you mean to? Are you free of personal blockages that invisibly prevent your moving through difficult times?
